I FOUND IT!!!!!

Hi! I'm back and am going to try to get my wrinkly, age-spotted wrist wearing my Fitbit. Here goes!

I just lowered my arm to see the time - 10:45 A.M.

I have walked 363 steps so far today. That's not the best number but
I haven't treaded.
Ciao!

MY ADVENTURES WITH A FITBIT

What's a Fitbit, you ask? Here is a picture of a Fitbit.

This is a Fitbit, an electronic watch and pedometer plus other features.
I wanted a Fitbit so my friend, Paula, and I went to Target and I purchased one - $129.00 plus tax.

Isn't that a pretty color - maroon. Off to Erik, my computer tutor and good friend, to get this thing
programmed. Put in my age, weight, height, password and user name. Then……tried it on and it
was too tight! The instructions said you needed to be able to slip a finger between the band and your
wrist and, if you couldn't do that, it was too tight and wouldn't register your steps. Now what do we
do? Guess it's back to Target to return and get the larger size. But wait! What about the info we put in the Fitbit? Granted I didn't give my social security number or a credit card number, but still I'm sure
I need to take my info out of there. Target guy said it could be done. Back to Erik and……….this is
what we had to do to clear the info………put in a new set of info and it would clear both! Seemed strange but that's what we did. We said I was 7' tall, 11 years old, in my trimester and nursing. Got an
e-mail saying, "Fitbit has been cleared of all information". Weird!
Now, back to Target with small one, got a large one and made plans for Erik to program the new one.
Before that happened, I went to Costco's for coffee and vitamins. Going through the electronics department, what did I see but Fitbits for $114.00!!!!! Whew! Sure glad the second Fitbit from Target
hadn't been programmed. Stopped @ Erik's shop and told him what I had found. "Return the Target
Fitbit and get the Costco's. That's a $15.00 savings"! "Yes, sir", I told Erik.
I did just that. Costco only had black Fitbits (see first picture) but for a $15.00 savings I can wear black.
Wednesday night Erik came for Chinese, some tutoring and to set up my new Fitbit.
It has been set up, I am wearing it and enjoying it.
Here is my Fitbit on my wrinkly, age-spotted wrist. Well, I have searched and searched for the picture
of me wearing my Fitbit but, for the life of me, I can't find it!
Just some words about electronic pedometers. I found that, if I don't swing my arm when I'm walking
on the treadmill or anywhere, the Fitbit will not register my steps! (I do have a way of counting my
steps when I tread and can add that number @ the end of the day.) Also, to see what time it is, I need to
lower my arm by my side, bring my arm back up and then the time appears. If you look at the picture above of the black Fitbit you can see the small screen on the strap. It reads "8151" and has two footprints on the left. To see your step count you lightly tap that small screen.
If you have been a faithful follower of my blog since Day One, you might remember a blog about my
adventure with an iPad. (Did I tell you I sold it to a friend of Rebekah's - in Denver, CO. I didn't know Erik @ that time and never really learned how to use it.)
I hope I don't give up on this Fitbit and try to sell it! If nothing else, it is a watch, an expensive one,
of course, but a watch none the less.
If I find the pic of my Fitbit on my wrinkly, age-spotted wrist, I will send a P.S. with the pic.
Enjoy your life! And be kind to one another.

BAOBAB, THE UPSIDE-DOWN TREE - PICTURES BY MARCUS HIRN IN OCTOBER 2010

In my word puzzle books, by Penny Press, one of the puzzles I do is called Crypto-Botany. It is a
bit of trivial information about plants with the text written in code. My job is to decipher this bit of
knowledge.
Some of what the puzzle told me was this. It grows in tropical areas, is notable for its wide trunk and
unusual shape. (In the pictures you will see why it is called an upside-down tree). It bears fruit, sometimes called "monkey bread". The bark of the tree can be used for natural medicine to reduce fever and to make ropes and cloth. Some old hollow baobabs are even used for dwellings. The tree can store water during droughts, leading to its nickname, "tree of life.
After researching this tree I found that the fruit has a yogurty, sweet taste. It is consumed by the native peoples and the elephants! Let's have a look at this strange and fascinating tree.
The tops of the trees look like roots, thus the "upside down" tree.
The fruit called "Monkey Bread".

The inside of the baobab fruit.

The author of these pictures called this one "Lovers".

Aren't they stately!

I hope that you liked this blog. If you want to know more and want to see more, just visit the google. Type in "baobab tree" and enjoy!

FABULOUS CREATIONS USING??

I frequent a blog created by Mark Lipinski. He puts together a potpourri of subjects - quilts, recipes, knitted projects, etc. When I get a new blog, I scroll through it, checking the knitting patterns, natch -
reading the recipes but never copying them for they are calorie-loaded. I just imagine myself biting into
a triple chocolate cake, apple pie bread - just to name a few. He also has a alcoholic drink in each
blog - the latest being a Dirty Shirley Temple - ingredients include vodka, Old Smokey Moonshine
cherry liquor and Moonshine cherries, grenadine, soda and ice. Every issue features a pair of shoes, ranging in price from 700$ to 1000$ plus.
I pulled a few pictures from his various blogs and want to share them with you.

These shoes cost $989.00 Gals, check out the heels!!!
Classy shoes and a black shoelace??

Going back to the title of this blog - this is the fabulous art that is made from??

I am not going to tell you what was used to create these sea creatures. Just enjoy!

And, a joke for Karla, Bill and me!

Just Some Odds and Ends About This and That

These two pictures are from my son, Steve's, Facebook page. I wanted to share with
you the captions that Steve had with these pictures.
(Steve lives in Las Vegas, N.M.)
Caption said, "Classic Vegas".

And this caption said, "Nope"!

This has no picture, just words. I got an e-mail
from Bill after doing the blog about clutter.
Here's what he said - "The clutter blog was two months in the making?
(He looked at the last blog before this one - thus the two months).
Flat surfaces are the best locale for clutter. I take issue with "clutter".
You are using the flat surfaces for what they are meant to be.
Have you tried placing papers (clutter) on sloping surfaces?----
or vertical surfaces? -----rounded surfaces? You do not have
clutter. You are using spaces wisely. I give this blog an "A" for
presentation and a "C" for authenticity.
How about that for a comment about one of my blogs!

I went to The Google to look @ Charlie Hebdo's cartoons.
I thought this one was excellent!

Lastly, it is snowing outside and has been snowing from the time
I got up, at @7:45 A.M. until now, 3:54 P.M. It is supposed
to snow most of this day and through the night. It looks to be
about 8-9"right now. Here in Ohio, that's a BLIZZARD!
For sister, Susi, in western Massachusetts,
that's a drop in the bucket!

IS IT LEGAL TO STEAL PHOTOS TO PUT IN MY BLOG????

Pianos! I was surfing the net, as they used to say, and came across painted pianos. I was agape! Agape means: (Of a person's mouth) wide open in surprise or wonder. I thought to myself, I thought, "These would make a fantastic blog". Then went about doing various and sundry things. Sundry means: of various kinds; several and……in Australia it's a cricket term for extra. (Didn't know you were going to get a lesson in English Grammar 101, did you?)
Well, I digress. Digress means: leave the main subject temporarily. I unfortunately forgot where I saw the pianos! So off to The Google to search "painted pianos" and there they were and I want to share them with you. I know you will be agape!

I like the chotski's on top of the piano, too.

How somber and elegant in it's simplicity!

Just stuck this in here to make you ponder.

Name that composer. Beethoven??

Joyous and gay and happy!

And, just for fun!

YARN, YARN, YARN, YARN, YARN AND MORE YARN

I have a couple other yarn blogs but this one has some new pictures. Here we go.
Yarn at the head of the bed. Oh, me!

Yarn at the foot of the bed. Oh, my!

Yarn in the middle of the bed. Oh, me, oh my!

How true! Or maybe a big glass of wine!

The elephant says, "Great! They've discovered sweaters!
Words at bottom: The beginning of the end for the "wool"y mammoth.

Words: Leonard was hopeful.
(Feet at bottom are mine!)

The lady is knitting!

And there we have a yarn, yarn yarn blog. Ciao!!

LOL, AS IN LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!

I know how to drag pictures into iPhoto from e-mails, pictures on the Google, etc. I came across these
funnies on a knitting site and just had to put them in here so I can see them again and have a good
laugh! So here goes.

If this is hard to read, he's saying, "No Grandma. Listen, double-click
the Internet Explorer icon".

Caption says, "I'm joking! You are NOT adopted!!"

I love this one!

This is my favorite!

ENJOY!!

THANKSGIVING 2014 WITH BILL, JIM AND CHRIS @ BILL'S IN CLEVELAND, OH

My dear friend, Bill, came to Sylvania and took me back to his home in Cleveland so I could spend
Thanksgiving with him, Chris and Jim. (Chris and Jim were also @ the wild 'n crazy birthday party
@ the river in July). Here's our Thanksgiving in pictures.

I'm sorry that Chris is in the dark. There is a better picture coming up. We are relaxing while the bird cooks.

Judi, Bill and Jim are taking a quiz about what to do and not do
at holiday parties. We, of course, aced the quiz!

These three men live sans women but when a woman is around, guess who has to
do the ironing? The empty table and my coffee mug.

I should have had Bill take a picture of me slaving away ironing
that blasted HUGE tablecloth!

The tablecloth with nary a wrinkle to be seen!

Isn't this lovely! Just waiting for the bird!

Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry chutney, succotash, green bean casserole
and four hungry people.

Here's a nice picture of Chris, out of the dark -
and Jim in his colorful shirt.
Drinks were wine, milk and/or ice water.

Bill is a collector of sorts. LOL! LOL!
These are salt cellars - placed by your plate for your sole use.
Aren't they wonderful! I can count five sets. Bill will
correct me if I'm wrong. We used the chickens @ Thanksgiving.

The dregs………...

and the half-turkey.

And………..last but not least, the pumpkin pie.
It had whipped cream on the side and we added
it in heaps!
A wonderful Thanksgiving - good friends
and wonderful food! And Bill drove me home again.

The day before Thanksgiving we four went to the Cleveland Art Museum.
I was hesitant to go because I had walked outside for 45 minutes
and my back was hurting bad. But, good old Bill, said, "Chris is going
to push Jim in a wheelchair because of his knee so I will
push you in a wheelchair". And that we did. I had
my own private docent to show me all the wonders of that
marvelous museum! Along the way we came across a
????? - don't know what to call it
(Oops - tis is a pic of me in front of the "art" screen).

but will explain it this way -
A picture would come up of a painting - words about the artist - then a
blank screen (the size of a BIG tv screen) and using your finger, you could
"create" your painting using 2-4 colors. I did the red, green and yellow
one by myself. You can see, on the left the letters "JU".

The blue , white and black one was created by Bill and me. This is
my favorite of the two. We were then told we could e-mail our
pictures, which we did. I then took them from the e-mail into
my iPhoto and, lastly, into this blog. Oh, the wonders
of a computer! How I love it!.
I found this pic of me in front of the screen we used to do our art.
